Hailing from the Mississippi Delta and raised on the hot dry plains of West Texas, Taylor Ervin has the look of man well worn, well traveled, & well, intense. But don't let the intensity freak you out. Behind his rough facade lies a sensitive softie... He began playing piano at the ripe old age of three. Many hours were spent listening to his grandmother, an organ player at the local church, who, like Taylor, had also been born in Mississippi and was by default, heavily influenced by stride piano, rag time, & the blues. It was a music education of styles that would last a lifetime. At the age of thirteen Taylor became captivated by many other styles of music ranging from King Crimson to Dream Theater as well as favorite blues heros like B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He has developed a unique blend of raw and aggressive organ riffs and melodious piano lines. Taylor met Vince at a telemarketing gig they were doing to get some cash to pay the bills. He was later asked to play with Vince on a blues cover gig with the Po' Boyz Blues Band. A couple years later and Vince asked him to help form the Vince Lujan Project. He is an orignal founding member. Taylor Ervin is 29 years old and lives with his girlfriend in Denton, TX. |
